I scanned three holy cards and overlaid some text that reveals an alternative message to the regular church doctrine.
I want to challenge the power that these icons found in parishoners' pockets and wedged in the pages of thumbed bibles have that may actually serve as a distraction from corporeal vitality and spirituality. It is my intention to reveal that Christ may have been wonderfully grumpy at times.
What is Christ the man really thinking?
The embossed text in this series of work gives voice to some more human thoughts of our Christian icons.
