A Bunch of Flowers

This flower is one of a series of ravishing images made by Katinka Matson; the images in both her series, Forty Flowers (January, 2002) , and the current Twelve Flowers, can be seen on her website here in low resolution versions. Katinka uses a flat bed scanner to 'photograph' images of objects from nature such as flowers.
She says:
It is a radically new digital aesthetic involving both new hardware (the scanner and the inkjet printer), and software (Adobe Photoshop), that allows for a new naturalism fusing nature and technology.
When I was a teenager I made loads of art using a photocopier and am interested in artists who use unorthodox technology to create striking images. Katinka's flowers are gorgeous, have a bunch and Happy Valentines Day!
